Honda rancher turns over but won't start.
Nov 4, 2019 · No start/ no neutral switch. I’m new - I’ve had a problem for some time and I’ve seen some posts but can’t get past this. 2000-350 foreman TE. Got it a year ago used. Would start in any gear so obviously modified. Recently went dead and after replacing solenoid and some other misc thing I come to this neutral switch “issue”.

I have changed the spark plug got a new ignition coil cleaned terminals etc. Sprayed carb cleaner in the carb and got a little bit of fire but not much. It wont start and run it will ... My son has a 2002 Honda 350 Rancher. He ran the oil down low on it. Was riding it one day, it quit on him. I checked oil, had very little. I added oil to fill it back up. Engine turnd over with electric start, has fuel to plug and spark at plug but will not run. It will occasionally backfire very load while turning engine over attempting to start.85. Jun 24, 2004. #2. 2016 420 won't crank. My 420 started smoking so I had the top end rebuilt. Got it all put back together and now it won't crank. It will turn over but not start. Pour fuel in spark plug hole and it starts until fuel runs out. When you turn the key on the fan comes on and temp light comes on. Remove the seat by releasing the small lever at the rear and lifting the seat out. Next, unclip the rear tail section, then unclip and remove the battery/fuse box cover by simply lifting it out. Check the BAS and the fuel pump relay, cause those two work together. You should see the fuel pump run for 2 seconds each time the ignition key is turned on. Fuel pressure should read between 48-53 lbs. If it is low the motor will not start and run. I costed into the break down lane and shut the key off and tried to start it again and it will turn over but not start. Check for spark - I doubt you lost both coils at one time but see if you are getting any power to the coils at all. 4. Fuel - even though the fuel pump is running see if you are getting fuel to the manifold. Pull the aircleaner cover off while cranking to see if the injector is injecting fuel.

Usually i always start it in neutral, but now its stuck in 3rd gear and won't return neutral. Tried rocking it back and fourth, but no luck!!Took ground off engine and cleaned. Took ground off frame and cleaned. Took ground off beside CDI box and cleaned. The neutral light is on and it just turns over and no fire. Checked all wire connectors. Oil level is good. Put jumper cables on battery from jeep to make sure I got the voltage it needs. And nothing. Still won't start. Any ideas?
CAREFULLY jump the two terminals on the solenoid (SPARKS WILL FLY).. IF the engine turns over or starts, THE SOLENOID IS BAD. just replace it. If its time to clean the carb go ahead and flush the tank and check the petcock (if it has one). Clean or replace the screens and filters.
